  • Panasonic Jaguar Racing unveiled its Formula E car for next season and confirmed its driver lineup on Thursday. Season 4 will start on Dec. 2 and Jaguar will be retaining Mitch Evans and Nelson Piquet Jr. to the lineup to drive its new Formula E car, named the I-Type 2. Piquet was the series champ in its inaugural season of 2014 to 2015. Season 3 (2016-2017) was Jaguar's first in Formula E. Sadly, but maybe not unexpectedly, the team finished last in standings. From there, it can only go up, which is what it aims to do with the new car and the experienced Piquet. Ho-Pin Tung will also remain as the team's reserve driver. The new car brings with it a new powertrain, which Jaguar says is much-improved from last season. All the teams use the same chassis and battery pack, which remains the same for the upcoming season. It's hard to say how Jaguar will fair in the upcoming season. While the team would love to have a very competitive year with the I-Type 2 and will do ever..

  • This year has been a building year for Formula 1, and so far, it's worked. More fans are tuning in than in years previous, and a heated competition for the Drivers' Title is enough to come back for every race. Now, officials are saying that focus has shifted to further improving the experience, both at the circuit and on television, by introducing a ceramic microphone that amplifies engine noise. This is in effort to recreate the same shrill of former Formula 1 engines with sound being a major complaint against the hybrid V-6 era. In a report from Reuters, F1 commercial managing director Sean Bratches explained the brand's strategy for bringing that excitement back to the sport.“One of the things that we want to amplify going forward are the sounds of the sport, because they are viscerally moving to fans and critically important in all the research that we do."Bratches noted that Australian producer David Hill, a longtime veteran in sports broadcasting, has been involv..

  • On Friday, The Drive delved into Robert Kubica's possible future at Williams, as well as the important news that 2016 champ Nico Rosberg had joined on with Kubica's managerial team. (As for why that's important, Anthony Rowland sums it up better than anyone can.) Beyond that, it seems things are developing rapidly for Kubica, as signs point to him being Williams' first choice for the position of number-one driver. However, it must be reiterated that how Felipe Massa will spend his 2018 is not yet known; he has interest in remaining in Formula 1, but he also has Formula E aspirations. According to an Auto Motor und Sport report, Williams's decision regarding Massa has been delayed until October—which coincidentally matches the window described by Alessandro Alunni Bravi, Kubica's manager, as the time when Kubica's future in Formula 1 will be determined, according to an interview with Eleven Sports. Lance Stroll's father has expressed a desire to..

The announcement that the Audi driver would be assuming the top spot at Roborace—a position he will hold while still racing in Formula E—was made at the Frankfurt Auto Show this week, according to Motorsport.com. Di Grassi's relationship with Roborace started last year, as he was a motorsport advisor for the company. The Brazilian driver has been a consistent advocate for both electric and autonomous cars, pushing for their respective spots in both road use and motorsport. This, Di Grassi claims, is his motivation as Roborace CEO."We want to take Roborace where motorsport cannot go, focusing the platform on future road-relevant autonomous technology.
