  • One of the highest anticipated devices of this year might be launching later than expected. No, we're not talking about the iPhone 8 this time around, but Samsung's Galaxy Note8. A new report from Evan Blass (a.k.a @evleaks) claims the handset will only be unveiled in the second half of September, contradicting earlier rumors that talked about a late August intro. According to "an individual briefed on the company's plans", the Note8 will be Samsung's most expensive smartphone yet, retailing for 999€ unlocked in the Eurozone. Since the initial prices of the Galaxy S8 and S8+ started at 799€ and 899€, respectively, this makes some sense. If you're wondering how this will translate into US dollars, we're guessing the unlocked model will retail for $925 (because the S8 is $725 and the S8+ is $825). The Note8 is said to come with a 6.3-inch 18.5:9 AMOLED touchscreen which would make it only marginally bigger than the 6.2-inch S8+. So this time around the Not..

  • Introduction The Xperia L1 marks Sony's return to the still growing and highly-competitive entry-level market. Putting together a good smartphone for beginners can often turn out to be an even tougher task than designing a flagship. Maybe that's why Sony is retiring its E-series and introducing a new contender in the Xperia L1. Sony used to cover the budget niche with the pocket-friendly E series, some water-proofed handsets in the M lineup and the selfie-centric C-series adding adequate depth and continuity all the way up to the flagship Z lineup. It's now the Xperia X that's in charge and Sony is obviously keen on revising its alphabet further down the ranks. Other than the name change, the newly unveiled Xperia L1 isn't dramatically different from the typical Sony entry-level handset we're used to. Almost a year sharp after the Xperia E5, we get a premium looped surface design - well executed given the tight budget - as well as a big screen, LTE conn..

  • We’ve already reported the Galaxy S8 Active appearing on Geekbench. Now another listing, this time on GFXBench, reveals some more info about the more rugged version of Samsung’s latest flagship. The phone reports a 5.4” screen with 2008 x 1080 resolution. Those both sound a little off though - the second seems a result of the phone's built-in downscaling feature, while the display size is often wrongly listed on GFXBench scorecards. The listing confirms the Galaxy S8 Active will run on Snapdragon 835 with an octa-core CPU and Adreno 540 GPU. The RAM will be 4 GB and the internal storage will be 64 GB, 53 of them user-available. The Galaxy S8 Active unsurprisingly will have one 12 MP camera on the back. The OS is Android 7.0 Nougat, probably with Samsung’s latest UI on top. We are yet to see any official info from the Korean company. Until then, feast your eyes on the previously reported no-dual curved screen render of the Galaxy S8 Active. Source | Via
