The 2016 PFA Player of the Year wants to leave the King Power Stadium this summer with Arsene Wenger currently favourite to bring him to the Emirates

Things are very rarely dull at Leicester City and Riyad Mahrez has already stated his desire to leave the King Power Stadium. The Algeria international signed a new contract with the Foxes after helping them to the Premier League title last summer but clearly feels his future lies elsewhere and made that clear with a very public statement.

Arsenal are 6/4 (2.50) favourites with Paddy Power to sign Mahrez after some comments from Arsene Wenger over the weekend to Bein Sports.

The Frenchman said, "Have we made a bid for him? No. Not yet. Not yet means it could happen, it could not happen", and the bookmakers have responded accordingly.

Monaco were initially made the favourites for his signature, but the Ligue 1 champions have been pushed out to 7/2 (4.50) in recent days, albeit the Foxes would surely prefer to sell one of their star players to a club outside the Premier League.

Questions have been raised about the potential wage demands of the 26-year-old though, who is already earning around £100,000 per week thanks to his most recent deal with the Foxes and that may prove a stumbling block for a team that, while very successful in recent months, have seemingly become a little more reserved in their previously lavish spending.

It's 4/1 (5.0) that a move doesn't go through this summer and Mahrez remains with Leicester, an interesting runner given the fact that no bids were tabled for him 12 months ago according to local sources.

While his form two seasons ago was sensational, intermittent performances over the past 12 months mean there are still question marks about Mahrez's ability to make such a step up in class on a consistent basis and the Foxes are unlikely to sell at any cost, pricing the player at around £40 million. It’s likely to be a case of a club meeting the Foxes' valuation before negotiations go any further.

The want away winger is not the only Foxes player to fail to live up to the previous high standards of course, but unlike Wes Morgan and Jamie Vardy to name a few, his desire to move on might see the dip in form placed under more scrutiny.

Mahrez racked up 17 league goals and 11 assists during the title winning campaign but the 2016-17 season saw him net just six times and provide three assists, although Wenger insisted that wouldn't detract from his qualities, an encouraging sign for those who see some value in the 6/4 (2.50) that a potential move to the Emirates goes through.

Several other Premier League clubs are also listed in the betting with Chelsea (10/1) and Tottenham (13/1) seemingly long shots at this early stage.

Paris Saint-Germain are 16/1 (17.0) to take Mahrez back to France, where he spent much of his footballing life prior to his move to the East Midlands four years ago.
